Designed as a simple working office cabinet, and minimally detailed, this piece is built from locally sourced black walnut and ash. Every surface, from the legs to the top is veneered in shop sawn black walnut and embellished with figured black walnut and ebony. The drawers are made from solid ash, and dovetailed by hand for durability and longevity. The narrow top drawer is roomy enough for assorted office related odds and ends, and can be further customized with specific dividers. The lower drawer can easily accommodate file folders.
This is a simple piece in form inspired by the Shaker design esthetic, but departs from there with the addition of inlays and veneers which makes it possible to control the visual rhythm of the grain. Solidly built, it would work equally well anywhere a statement piece is required, especially in a front entry.
